Big Boi talks album delays (DAPP News)

boogieb: dammit Jive, seriously, i need this album in my life already...

Outkast's Big Boi released his solo album's debut single, "Something's Gotta Give", in July of 2008. He says his solo project has been done for a while, yet Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty will probably not see a proper release until this summer. So what's causing the hold up?

"Jive Records, man," Big Boi explained to Rolling Stone magazine. "You know what goes with Jive? Shuckin’ and jivin’. And the fans have been thinking it’s me and Dre. You can’t work on music for two-plus years and just give it to a label and they just fuck it up."

As such, Big Boi says he has been the one responsible for leaking tracks such as "Royal Flush" and "Ringtone" to the public to sustain interest in his first solo album.

"I've been doing it myself," Big Boi added. "It's like I'm indie right now, but they won't let us out the contract. The Clipse said it best [on 'Mr. Me Too'] when they said 'they weren't playing fair at Jive.' They don’t want to spend the money, but the music's gonna make its own way."

In the meantime, Big Boi is working with his revamped Purple Ribbon roster, which includes Konkrete and Vonnegutt. Assuming his label troubles get ironed out, "Daddy Fat Sacks" will offer an album that features T.I., George Clinton, Lil Jon and his Outkast partner Andre 3000.

The original version of the educational kid’s program, which helped children learn the ins and outs of English grammar, regularly starred big names like Bill Cosby and Morgan Freeman. Recently, Common [click to read], Wyclef, and Ne-Yo each made musical contributions to the show. (via

KanYe West, Taraji P. Henson, Sanaa Lathan - all invovled in the Cleveland Show (DAPP News)

...Recently, West sat in on a table read for an upcoming episode of The Cleveland Show, a spin-off of the very popular Family Guy series on Fox.

"It was surprising to us that [he] was so into it that he came to the table [read], and wonderfully surprising how cool he was, how funny he was and how unassuming he was," said Mike Henry, the executive producer and voice of Cleveland in an interview with People.com.

As mentioned in the previous DX article, West's blog really does garner attention. Apparently, it is one of the reasons he was asked to appear on the show.

"We knew Kanye was a big Family Guy fan because he invited [creator] Seth [MacFarlane] to his house a year or two ago. And there was a mention on his blog when the spin-off was announced that he was excited about it. We knew he was a big fan and a lot of us are fans of his."

An executive producer, Richard Appel also spoke on West's positive attitude.

"Before we came to the table ... there was only one line he didn't love and he came up with another idea and in a completely modest, nice way said, 'Would you mind if I changed just this one line?' And our feeling was, how many raps have we written? One? And how many has he written? Be our guest!"

His vocals were done, also, and he seemingly did an excellent job.

"We just recorded him in the booth and he was fantastic," added Appel. "Once he read it a couple times through, he just owned the character, which I guess isn't hard since he was named Kenny West. He said he'd be glad to [be back.]. I said we could write him in to the next 21 episodes!"

Taraji P. Henson will also appear on the episode. Another notable actress, Sanaa Lathan, is a series regular.

Nat King Cole "Re:Generations" album available now

boogieb: album out now, get up on it
Nat King Cole was truly an icon during the late ‘50s and ‘60s. He was a true triple threat way before it was seen as something special or significant. Cole was a star singer, a Jazz pianist and he appeared in film and on television, In fact with the debut of, The Nat King Cole Show in 1956 he was the first African-American to host a television program. His music career and many hits helped to build Capitol Records. With so much important history and depth behind him, one first wondered if Cole would be rolling around in his grave once he heard Nat King Cole classics on some Hip Hop smoothed out on the R&B tip with a Pop/Jazz feel appeal to it. The Chris Brown/Rihanna beating – play by play/ blow by blow (DAPP News)

boogieb: Im real curious what Jay-Z thinks about all this, he helped make Rihanna and im sure he'll be damned if someone tries to break her...
TMZ has obtained LAPD detectives notes from a search warrant in the case. According to the notes, Rihanna read a three-page text message on Brown's phone from a woman. An argument ensued and Brown allegedly tried forcing Rihanna out of the car but couldn't because she was wearing her seat belt.

Brown then allegedly shoved Rihanna's head against the passenger window. When Rihanna turned to face him, Brown punched her, then continued punching her while driving, according to the detective's notes.

Blood spattered all over Rihanna's clothing and in the interior of the car. Her mouth was filled with blood.

Brown allegedly told Rihanna, "I'm going to beat the **** out of you when we get home. You wait and see."

Rihanna called her assistant and left a message saying, "I am on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there."

Brown then replied, "You just did the stupidest thing ever. I'm going to kill you."

According to the report, Brown continued to punch Rihanna, bit her on her ear, her fingers and put her in a headlock -- she almost lost consciousness
